The flowers last a few weeks and change the whole estate. It is the best time to walk the trails.
Between March and May the cork oak landscape changes colour. The grass is still green, low wildflowers come out between the trees, and the days are long enough to stay outside late without the summer heat.
It is the time of year when people walk the most here. The paths are dry, the ground does not raise dust, and for almost an hour at the end of the day the light comes in low between the trees — which is what anyone who brings a camera comes looking for.
The walking circuit is signposted from start to finish and loops around the estate with no need for a map. Anyone who would rather move faster has the bicycles by the entrance, with no booking and no charge.
At the end of the day the table goes outside whenever the weather allows. Breakfast is included in the stay; lunch is à la carte and dinner is arranged in advance.
If you want to come at this time of year it is worth telling us early: there are few places to stay and the weeks of flower are always the same ones.
